The Amalfi Coast is a must-see when traveling to Italy. The beaches and towns here are some of the most beautiful in the world.

A UNESCO world heritage site, the Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coast line in southern Italy dotted with pastel-colored towns and dramatic cliffs that meet the sea.

La Costiera Amalfitana is full of traditional fishing villages, perfect beaches, and gorgeous panoramic views.

A popular vacation spot, you'll find an even mix of local Southern Italians, visitors from Northern Italy, and tourists from around the world.
Towns Along the Coast:
Sorrento
Amalfi
Positano
Ravello
When to Go:
The best time to travel along the Amalfi Coast is in the Spring or Summer. Southern Italy gets warm before other parts of Europe, but still has cold autumns and winters, so travel then will be a bit chilly. It's also good to note that August will be very busy, as it's a popular time for travel for Italians and foreigners alike.
How to get there:
The coast is typically accessed from Naples. If you're staying in another city in Italy, take the train to Naples (expect 1.5 hours from Rome and 4 hours from Florence).
When you get to Naples, buy a ticket (should be about 4 euro) for the local train to Sorrento. There should be bus tours or car rentals as well, but the train is probably the cheapest option.
In Sorrento, you can take a bus to Positano, or even find a cab that shouldn't be too pricey (especially if split in a group). For me, the drive along the Amalfi Coast is one of my favorite experiences.
Here's to hoping I can experience it again and again this summer in Italy!

The only thing along the Amalfi Coast that isn't perfectly sweet, are the groves of lemons which add to the lush landscape of the region. Take a trip here, and you'll definitely understand why Italy is called "il bel paese".
