Capri is a famously beautiful (and expensive) island in the gulf of Naples in Southern Italy.

Pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable—as in KApree, not kaPREE—the island is a favorite spot for the famous, even dating back to the Roman emperors (when they were the hot celebs of the time). In fact, Tiberius built twelve villas there (but they are no longer visible).

Capri is a stunning sight to see, an island that shoots out of the mediterrenean with high cliffs and mountains on all sides. Beautiful rock formations jut out of the gorgegous light blue sea all around, making exploration of the sea that surrounds the island equally as attractive as the island itself.

Capri is a great place to visit, and doesn't have to be exclusively for the super rich or super famous. In fact, it's easier to get to than you might think! So, here are some basic travel tips to get you to and around this picturesque island in style!
When to go:
Warm times to visit would be May-July. August should be very busy, so the months before then should be warm and not overly packed.
How to get there:
There is a ferry from Naples to Capri. If you're staying in another city in Italy, take the train to Mergellina (Naples) and then take the ferry to Capri. If you’re in Rome, the train should be about 1.5 hours to Naples, and 4 hours to Naples from Florence.
Expect the round trip ferry ticket to be in the range of €20-€30. There’s also a ferry from Sorrento, if you happen to visit there first.
Sights to see:
1. Blue Grotto. There are beautiful caves around the perimeter Capri. If you take a boat tour, your guide will take you to see the neon blue water that lights up the dark caves. It's truly amazing.
2. Take the Chairlift. There is a chairlift from Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri. Ride it up to the highest point of the island called Monte Solaro.
3. Have a drink. Limoncello liqueur is famously from this region in Italy, and what better place to try it than in paradise? Small souvenir bottles can be purchased around the island for only €3 (many of which are small enough for your carryon), or taste it in any restaurant.
4. Buy handmade sandals. So, Capri is definitely an expensive place to shop, but you can buy reasonable handmade leather sandals (costing anywhere from €25-€250). These cobblers making handmade sandals are a famous sight in Capri, and a lovely and unique way to remember your trip.
5. Hit the beach! Any beach in Capri will be a beautiful place to soak up the sun alongside wealthy tourists and bronze Italians.
So now that you know the Capri basics, what are you waiting for? Andiamo a Capri! Let's go to Capri!
